Understanding the Game of Basketball

Basketball is fast-paced game played on a rectangular court, usually indoors by two five-player teams. The purpose of the game is to score more points than the opposing team by putting a round ball into the hoop. Men and women of all ages in more than 200 countries play the game of basketball. Michael Jordan, who recently retired, was one of the greatest men to play the game. To understand the game of basketball, we will take a closer look on the general rules, offense, and defense.
The general rules have to be understood because it forms a foundation for the game. The dimensions of a basketball court vary, but it is usually 84 ft long and 50 ft wide.
