In modern computers the computer is turned on and off by a 5 volt signal being sent to the power supply this is either done from a push button on the computer its self or a signal from the operating system. And a constant 5 volts is always running through the motherboard even when the computer is switched off this is to allow the PSU to receive the 5 volts power on command. ... This conversion enables a small, lightweight transformer in the power supply to do the actual voltage step-down from 240 volts to the voltage needed by the particular computer component. ... Assess the different requirements for two different types of system Server A server needs to be far more powerful than a standard desktop computer this is because it is in constant demand by other computers on the network. |
