However John Chambers, Cisco’s president and CEO, and Pete Solvik, a senior VP and CIO, believed that one of the keys to continued growth, profitability and overall success was the continued leadership in the adoption and use of Internet technology. 4 Cisco was regarded as one of the leading examples in terms of being one of the most successful Internet companies and faced the challenge of maintaining that image. IT leadership and organization will play an important role in enabling Cisco to uphold that reputation.
