Ethics of Automotives

Most of these Ethics previous to the 21st century were not unlawful – but they were not exactly ethical either. What is to be covered in this portion of the project are the past, present, and futuristic ethical practices in the automobile industry such as sustainability, safety issues of past, present, and future automobiles, types of new models with some of their features, and futuristic models as well as possible highway changes. The three main aspects of sustainability are to a) protect the resources that are left, b) protect the environment, and c) respect all forms of life. A good example that focuses on the previous is an example about birds. For the past couple of years flocks of birds have been seen flying in circles for no apparent reason. The reason this is happening is because there is so much pollution in the atmosphere that the bird’s natural directional radar has been thrown out of sync. They would start flying then something in the atmosphere would shift causing the birds to fly around trying to find either, North, South, West, or East. Much of their energy is wasted because of this and they are dying off. In the past, a particular automobile industry – General Motors, used to use live animals as “crash-test dummies”. They would place monkeys, and/or chimps, (supposedly the closest animal to the human being) in the driver’s seat and tape their hands to the steering wheel and their feet to the floor and make them crash into a wall at about sixty miles per hour. When the animal was found alive they were taken for testing on what internal injuries they had. Many visual injuries were eyes being ripped out, broken bones, and exposed organs. The people that were present would laugh at the animal while they were in this state. PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had found out about this and for many years tried to put a stop to it.
