A dream can become as real as reality and reality can seem as unreal as a dream. Descartes said that “there are no reliable signs by which I can distinguish sleeping from waking” and I find this statement to be quite true. The human mind, senses, and perception are dull and irresolute because they lack keen certainty in the observations of their surroundings. The eyes are tricked by the mirage of a hot desert and the tongue is fooled by sugar substitutes such as sweet-n-low. The mind can become confused and disoriented at any given moment.
