metaphors in information systems

Metaphors of Information Systems Management

Introduction

In general, a metaphor is used to describe something figuratively: When someone says, “His head is as hard as a rock,” we know that someone is mentally dense – but not as dense as granite; laughing until one’s “sides split,” does not actually mean one’s lungs were exposed; and waiting “until the last dog dies,” is not a matter to be taken up with PETA – but just means someone has waited an inordinately long time for something. Metaphors add color and contrast to everyday language.

Similarly, metaphors add color and contrast to the dry and technical world of computers and the Internet environment.
