Although these programs can be a positive force for gaining fans and recognition, people must realize that overall, these online sharing systems are going to be more harmful than helpful. They will become damaging not only to the music industry, but to the economy as well. ... They took into consideration that without a record label, they had to turn somewhere in order to promote their music. ... Even though these bands have record labels that promote them, the main source of fans comes from the online sharing systems. ... A large number of 12 Stoness fans consist of people who browse for a new style of music while they are bored. ... People must realize that these programs will begin to weaken not only the bands, but the music industry as well.
In the music industry, an artist must think logically at all times. ... It is certainly not letting people have access to his music free of charge. If this critical situation is not acted upon, then the music business will become obsolete.
